Top recruit fails to show up for own college announcement press conference

Good times.

Davonte Neal's eccentric recruitment became downright bizarre on Tuesday, as the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral four-star receiver failed to show up to his own press conference called to announce his college decision. According to multiple reports, Neal and his father, Luke -- who has been heavily involved throughout the recruiting process -- were at odds on the final choice. Neal reportedly preferred to play for Arizona, but his father wanted him to sign with Notre Dame. It was an extraordinary and possibly unprecedented scene, one that unfolded at Kyrene de la Esperanza, Neal's elementary school. Numerous media outlets and hundreds of students waited nearly an hour for Neal to arrive. It never happened. Instead, principal Dr. Cheryl Greene dismissed the students, making it clear that no announcement was forthcoming.

Maybe he had frozen pipes? (CC J.R. Rider).

ESPN reports that later in the day Neal chose Notre Dame.
