Timberwolves fall to Bulls in second-to-last game of preseason

Anthony Edwards scored 25 points through three quarters for the Wolves, who have one more tuneup before the games begin for real next week.

Anthony Edwards scored 25 points and Julius Randle added 23, but the Timberwolves lost 126-120 at Chicago in their penultimate exhibition game Thursday night.

The Bulls trailed 89-86 after three quarters at United Center but they outscored the Wolves 40-31 in the fourth, when the Wolves sat their starters along with reserve Donte DiVincenzo. Matas Buzelis scored seven of his team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter for Chicago, and Jevon Carter scored nine points in the period.

Before that, Edwards got in 30 minutes of action, shooting 9-for-19 from the floor and added seven rebounds and five assists. Randle shot 10-for-18 and had eight rebounds and four assists in nearly 27 minutes, and Rudy Gobert finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.

Off the Wolves bench, Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 14 points and fellow 2024 first-round draft pick Rob Dillingham had 13.

The Wolves preseason ends with Friday night’s game at Philadelphia before the regular season begins Wednesday at Portland.
