The Commenter Talker Of the Day: Replacing football coaches with computers?

A computer model has been developed that will take the human element out of play-calling. How could that be applied locally?

From Fasolamatt:

An applied statistician (YAY APPLIED STATISTICIANS!) and an operations researcher have developed a computer model that will take the human element out of play-calling and give your team the best possible chance.

Your humble correspondent suggests that there should be some testing done to see if that's really true, and suggests the following situations:

*Just before halftime against the Falcons in early '98, do you take a knee? [Proprietor note: How about at the end of regulation while we're there].

*Earnest Byner up the middle against the Broncos?

*You're up a whole bunch of points against Michigan at home. Whaddya do?

What are your suggestions?
