TFD: The Saint Paul Saints merely become "The Paul"

It's a shameless publicity grab, but as usual, it has worked for the St. Paul Saints ... or should we say "The Paul."

It's a shameless publicity grab, but as usual, it has worked for the St. Paul Saints ... or should we say "The Paul."

Yes, the team announced that, through Sunday, it will simply refer to itself as "The Paul," thus removing the two references to the Vikings' NFC title game opponent from its name.

The team will also wear jerseys that say "The Paul" on them during a game sometime in 2010.

And after that, we have to imagine those jerseys will be auctioned off to guys named Paul and/or their friends. Because if our name was Paul, we would absolutely have to have one of those.

UPDATE: And, indeed, give credit to the KFAN Power Trip morning show for coming up with the concept.
