TFD: Packers reportedly sign controversial Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla

Good times

The Packers are rolling the dice at tight end with Oregon's Colt Lyerla out of a tryout camp, according to Packersnews.com:

The athleticism of the 6-foot-4, 242-pound native of Hillsboro, Ore., speaks for itself, but he's had a history of off-the-field issues. It started when he tweeted that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, Conn., were a conspiracy, and later that the children were only "supposedly" killed and their parents were "liars."
Lyerla was suspended early in the season for violating team rules before finally leaving the Ducks on Oct. 6. Shortly thereafter, he [was] arrested for possession of cocaine.

We'd make an Increasingly Lost Offseason joke here, but we're wavering somewhere between "the jokes write themselves" and "let's hope this guy can turn his life around."

The one comment on that linked story as of 5:45 p.m., by the way, indicates that "Sandy Hook being called fake isn't that uncommon. So.... either way whatever, good pickup."

Good talk!
