TFD: Gophers could face North Dakota with Frozen Four berth on the line

The WCHA men's hockey regular-season chase is about as clear as mud (though let's face it, nobody really cares about that except Dana Wessel).

After that, there's the first-round of WCHA playoffs, the WCHA Final Five (really six) and then, only then, is the NCAA tourney here.

So there's a lot of hockey left to be played. A lot can change. But the PairWise rankings don't tend to shift a whole lot. So this latest bracketology from USCHO.com could very well hold up.

What is says right now is this:

The Gophers could very well be the No. 1 seed in Grand Rapids, while North Dakota could very well be the No. 2 seed there.

Translation: If that holds up, and both end up winning their first-round games, they would meet again with a berth in the Frozen Four on the line, just like last year, but this time in the final year of the WCHA as we know it.

Ponder that.
