TCTOD: Savvy fans and rooting for the enemy

MR poses a dilemma.

If you are working on this final day before Thanksgiving, perhaps this will give you something to chew on before diving into piles of turkey tomorrow. From MR (not us, the other one):

------------

I'm a Gophers fan, even though I don't have a particular connection to the U. As I was watching the Wisconsin-Gonzaga basketball game last night, I began to wonder whether it would be more advantageous to the Gophers if Wisconsin won the game. With the Gophers expected to be an NCAA team, strength of schedule is fairly important for seeding. If Wisconsin wins a highly-ranked non-conference game, isn't it better for the Gophers, because it makes the Big Ten look better? So should we start rooting for the Badgers, in certain games at least?

------------

Sounds like a good dilemma in an era where more fans are aware of these factors. What are some of your thoughts?
