Sun wins, takes over Eastern lead • CONNECTICUT 85, DETROIT 68: Asjha Jones scored 20 points, and rookie Amber Holt had a career-high 19 as Connecticut moved ahead of Detroit into first place in the Eastern Conference with a victory Tuesday in Uncasville, Conn. The Sun put the game away with an 11-2 fourth-quarter run, a spurt that included Cheryl Ford's flagrant foul and a technical foul on the Shock bench.

HOUSTON 82, SAN ANTONIO 81 (OT): Tina Thompson hit a deciding 13-foot jumper with 1.2 seconds left in overtime for the Comets, who dealt the Silver Stars their first home loss. Thompson finished with 16 points despite being injured when she was hip-checked by Sophia Young early in the first quarter. X-rays showed a fracture in the ring finger on her shooting hand. Becky Hammon led San Antonio with 25 points.

PHOENIX 98, WASHINGTON 90: Diana Taurasi scored 31 points, and fellow U.S. Olympian Cappie Pondexter had 28 for the Mercury, which ended the host Mystics' three-game winning streak. Mystics leading scorer Alana Beard was limited to 11 points; she was averaging 19.7.

INDIANA 99, SACRAMENTO 99: Ebony Hoffman had career highs with 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Fever, which rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat the Monarchs in Indianapolis.

LOS ANGELES 76, SEATTLE 62: Candace Parker had 22 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for the Sparks in a home victory.
