Free shipping on Friday If you missed a free shipping deal on Cyber Monday, it's not too late. Friday is Free Shipping Day, when more than 1,200 online merchants -- including Cabela's, Overstock, Macy's, Sears, Lands' End, Barnes & Noble, Hanna Andersson, Harry & David and Brookstone -- offer free shipping. Delivery for most packages sent within the 48 contiguous states is guaranteed by Dec. 24. For more information, check out www.freeshippingday.com.

Free flu shots The Minnesota chapter of the American Lung Association and Walgreens are offering 5,000 vouchers for free flu shots. The shots are available to anyone 19 or older. To get a voucher, go to www.startribune.com/a63, call 1-800-548-8252, or show up Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Elk River Walgreens (18267 Carson Court, 763-252-1175) or from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Richfield Walgreens (12 W. 66th St., 612-861-7276). Anyone with a voucher can get a shot anytime during pharmacy hours.

Using expired coupons Am I the only one who was told that Bed, Bath & Beyond quit accepting its expiring coupons for 20 percent off any single item? After Linens 'n Things closed all of its stores, a Bed, Bath & Beyond clerk informed me of the policy change. But last weekend a friend used his expired coupon successfully. I called three Twin Cities stores (Bloomington, Minnetonka and Woodbury, 651-739-3800) and was told by each, "We prefer it if they're not expired, but we will accept them if they are." Will they accept one that's a year or two old? It's doubtful, but it depends on the kindness of the cashier. To start getting the 20 percent off coupons, sign up in the store or at www.bedbathandbeyond.com. Click on "Email Signup" at the top of the home page.
