Staubitz placed on waivers

One day after a one-sided loss to Vancouver, Wild winger Brad Staubitz was given his walking papers

February 10, 2012 at 6:01PM

You knew there would be some kind of roster move after last night.

So far the only one is Brad Staubitz finally being given his walking papers. The middleweight who often seems reluctant to fight and has a propensity for bad penalties was placed on waivers this morning. If he clears tomorrow, he'll likely be reassigned to Houston, where the Wild will pay his NHL salary.

Acquired two summers ago in a trade for a fifth-round pick before the draft to add toughness, Staubitz scored nine points in 114 games with the Wild. He has no points in 43 games this season and is a minus-7.

The Wild has yet to take the ice for practice today. The Wild's practice at St. Thomas Academy has sinced been scrapped. Players have off-ice training at the X. Availability soon. More later.
