Stars FC falls to Rowdies

Mike Ambersley and Tsuyoshi Yoshitake scored second-half goals as the Tampa Bay Rowdies defeated the Stars FC 2-0 in St. Petersburg, Fla., to leap-frog Minnesota and claim third place in the NASL.

Goalkeeper Matt VanOekel made a club-record 10 saves for the Stars, who were twice thwarted by the crossbar.

RedHawks thump SaintsThe Saints ended June with an 11-2 American Association loss to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in Fargo, N.D.

The Saints finished the month 11-15.
