St. Paul Saints named American Association's organization of the year

The St. Paul Saints were named the American Association's Organization of the Year as voted on by the league's managers and media members.

The Saints drew a league-record 404,428 fans to their new CHS Field and set a franchise record with 74 regular-season victories.

• The Gophers women's golf team finished 13th in the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Wilmette, Ill. Heather Ciskowsi of Minnesota tied for 19th with a 1-under total of 215 after rounds of 72, 70 and 73.

• Sammy Schmitz, of Farmington, defeated Philip Lee 4 and 3 in the round of 16 at the U.S. Mid-Amateur in Vero Beach, Fla.

• Minnesota State Mankato (15-over-par 583) holds a six-stroke lead over Winona State after two rounds of the NSIC men's golf tournament in Lake City, Minn. The final 36 holes will be played April 9-10 in Smithsville, Mo.
