Florida-based Spirit Airlines said Thursday it is offering nine new low-fare, nonstop routes, including one between the Twin Cities and Denver.

The new routes, which began Thursday, vary in price by the day of the month a customer flies, making it advisable to consult the airline's combined online calendar and price list at spirit.com.

For example, flying round trip from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to Denver in May (departing Monday, May 6, and returning Monday, May 13) costs about $161, according to the website.

The other new flights originate in other states, with Texas having the most new connecting flights.

Spirit entered the Twin Cities market a year ago. Its other destinations from MSP include Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers in Florida.

With Spirit's entry into the Denver market, there will be an average of about 19 Denver flights per day out of Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport to Denver. Spirit joins Delta, United, Southwest and Frontier.
