Is there a major wrestling upset in the making? We'll find out on Saturday, the final day of the Minnesota Christmas wrestling tournament in Rochester. I'll head down to the Regional Sports Center for the semifinals and title rounds.

The first-day results (thanks to The Guillotine for posting them) show Simley atop the 35-team field with 102 points and Apple Valley second with 95, followed by Bismarck (82), West Fargo (76) and Jackson County Central (74).

Apple Valley is ranked second in the nation by Amateur Wrestling News, Simley is No. 17 and Bismarck is No. 37.

According to reports on The Guillotine website (WHICH CAN BE FOUND HERE), Simley has 11 wrestlers in the quarterfinals and Apple Valley has nine. Wrestlers from the two schools could meet in four semifinals.

Apple Valley has won 11 of the past 13 Christmas tournament titles, including the past two.
