Fuel: 20,000 tons of coal per day from Montana and Wyoming

In service: Unit 1 (1976); Unit 2 (1977); Unit 3 (1987)

Owner: Xcel Energy Inc., except for Unit 3, which is 41 percent owned by the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency

Output: 2,400 megawatts, enough to supply 2 million homes
