BAKU, Azerbaijan — Shakhar Peer of Israel advanced to the semifinals of the Baku Cup by beating Tadeja Majeric of Slovenia 6-0, 6-4 Friday.
The 149th-ranked Peer, who is looking for her sixth career title, will face Polish qualifier Magda Linette.
Linette advanced to her first semifinal match on the WTA Tour when wild-card entry Ons Jabeur of Tunisia, leading 6-3, 4-1, retired with an ankle injury.
Seventh-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine reached her second semifinal in as many weeks by beating second-seeded Donna Vekic 6-2, 6-3. She will play fourth-seeded Alexandra Cadantu of Romania, who eliminated Galina Voskoboeva 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-3.
