The Gophers women’s basketball team has not lost a game in nearly a month. Center Sophie Hart has a theory about that.

“We’re very in sync with one another,” she said.

That good-vibe groove continued Thursday, Feb. 12, with an 84-67 win over Nebraska at Williams Arena in front of an announced crowd of 4,039.

The Gophers extended their winning streak to seven games to improve to 19-6 overall and 10-4 in Big Ten.

The Gophers led wire-to-wire but saw a 21-point cushion dwindle to only six late in the fourth quarter. Their entire cast made winning plays in the clutch, however, to ensure their winning streak stayed alive.

Gophers coach Dawn Plitzuweit is now one win away from reaching 20 wins for the third consecutive season since taking over the program.

All five Gophers starters scored in double figures. Guard Mara Braun scored nine points in the first quarter on a trio of three-pointers and finished with 15.

Guard Amaya Battle scored 10 of her game-high 21 points in the second quarter.

The Cornhuskers outscored the Gophers 22-11 in the third quarter to cut their deficit to 60-52 and change the tone of the game. The Gophers made only 3 of 11 shots and committed seven turnovers in the frame. The Gophers entered the game ranked first nationally in fewest turnovers per game at 10.1.

The Gophers scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to regain some breathing room.
