aRLINGTON, TEXAS – Seimone Augustus' midrange jumper was true Saturday night, as it has been so often in her career.
Augustus made a 15-foot jumper with 4.3 seconds left, helping the Lynx beat the Dallas Wings 89-87 at College Park Center before an announced crowd of 5,169.
"It's just something that [Augustus] does well," Lynx center Sylvia Fowles said, referring to her late basket. "I know if I set a good screen, she's going to come off and get a shot. … She was so open."
The Lynx ended the first week of the WNBA regular season with their third victory in as many games.
Fowles led the Lynx with 27 points and 13 rebounds. The 6-6 center also made a huge defensive play with 19 seconds left, blocking a shot by Skylar Diggins-Smith on the Dallas guard's drive to the basket.
Maya Moore added 21 points for the Lynx. Augustus finished with 18.
"Our post players were huge for us — Sylvia and Rebekkah [Brunson]," Moore said. "Just getting us open for screens, and just executing down the stretch.
"We had to get some stops, Syl came up with a huge block o get us the shot to get Simone for the game-winner."
