aRLINGTON, TEXAS – Seimone Augustus' midrange jumper was true Saturday night, as it has been so often in her career.

Augustus made a 15-foot jumper with 4.3 seconds left, helping the Lynx beat the Dallas Wings 89-87 at College Park Center before an announced crowd of 5,169.

"It's just something that [Augustus] does well," Lynx center Sylvia Fowles said, referring to her late basket. "I know if I set a good screen, she's going to come off and get a shot. … She was so open."

The Lynx ended the first week of the WNBA regular season with their third victory in as many games.

Fowles led the Lynx with 27 points and 13 rebounds. The 6-6 center also made a huge defensive play with 19 seconds left, blocking a shot by Skylar Diggins-Smith on the Dallas guard's drive to the basket.

Maya Moore added 21 points for the Lynx. Augustus finished with 18.

"Our post players were huge for us — Sylvia and Rebekkah [Brunson]," Moore said. "Just getting us open for screens, and just executing down the stretch.

"We had to get some stops, Syl came up with a huge block o get us the shot to get Simone for the game-winner."

Dallas' Allisha Gray tried to win the game with a three-pointer at the buzzer from the top of the key, but the shot fell well short. Diggins-Smith led the Wings (1-1) with 22 points in their home opener.

The Wings shot 50 percent from the floor to 41.5 percent for the Lynx, but Dallas was outrebounded 37-25.

Brunson had only seven points, but she had 11 rebounds to reach a personal milestone. The first of Brunson's rebounds Saturday gave her 3,000 for her career; she is only the fifth WNBA player with that many. Brunson is now three behind Taj McWilliams-Franklin, a former Lynx teammate and a current Wings assistant.

There were 15 lead changes and 11 ties in the entertaining game. Dallas led 22-21 after one quarter. The Lynx were ahead 49-37 at halftime. Then Dallas roared back with 31 third-quarter points to go up 68-67.

"They played great in the third," Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said, "and then obviously it was back-and-forth, back-and-forth, so a great game."

The Lynx have won their past 14 games at Dallas and Tulsa — the Wings' home before last season, dating back to June 4, 2010, and are 26-2 in their past 28 meetings overall.
