Save on admissions to Valleyfair and CTC Valleyfair (Shakopee, 952-445-6500, www.valleyfair.com) is offering one of its lowest prices ever on season passes. A pass for the 2011 season is $60, including unlimited visits (normally $27 to $40 each), free parking (normally $10 each) and admission to the Halloween-themed ValleyScare ($25 to $40 last year). For a total of $90, fairgoers also get the same benefits for the rest of this season, including ValleyScare. The deal is available only at the park (not online or by phone), but the price of parking and admission on the day you attend can be applied to the $90 fee in person. The offer is not available on junior or senior passes, and the passes are nontransferable. By the way, Valleyfair is expected on Friday to announce a major expansion for the start of the 2011 season.

The Children's Theatre Company (2400 3rd Av. S., Mpls., 612-874-0400, www.childrens theatre.org) celebrates its 45th anniversary with a free child's ticket to "The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins" with purchase of an adult ticket. CTC is the world's only theater with rights to produce Dr. Seuss' "Cubbins," one of its most popular productions since debuting in 1979. The special effect of a hat reappearing on Cubbins' head each time he removes one is worth the price of admission. Adult tickets are $26 to $40 for the Sept. 17-Oct. 30 run. But during previews Sept. 14-16, tickets are $15 for kids and $20 for adults. The free child's ticket is also available during previews. The buy-one-get-one-free offer is good through Aug. 15 by phone, online or in person and is limited to one free ticket per household. Use discount code 0731.

Data from Zillow and the Minneapolis Area Realtors tell the story of last year’s housing market in the Twin Cities and beyond. Upper-bracket buyers spent freely in cities like Edina and Minnetonka Beach, while everyone else dealt with high mortgage rates and few listings.
