Steph Olson and Jackson Martens ran the wildcat formation to perfection, leading visiting No. 8 Burnsville past Farmington 31-23 on Friday night.

The Blaze relied heavily on running backs after quarterback Andrew Hanson left the game in the first quarter because of a leg injury.

Olson picked up the slack in the passing game with a pair of touchdown throws to Jake Shepley, including the Blaze’s first score of the game.

The Tigers got on the board first late in the first quarter on a 27-yard field goal by Adam Weed.

The Blaze responded a couple of series later after the Tigers muffed a punt. The Blaze recovered the ball on the 40-yard line and moved down the field before Olson attempted his first pass, lobbing a 20-yard pass to Shepley in the back of the end zone on fourth down. Tre Thomas sent the Blaze into halftime with a 14-3 lead on an 18-yard run. Cole Hinrichsen accounted for three touchdowns in the second half to keep the Tigers close.

Apple Valley 42, Eastview 41: Noah Sanders and Luke Martens connected on five touchdown passes, including a pair in the final 4:26 to rally the visiting Eagles past the Lightning. The duo capped the Eagles comeback with a 14-yard pass with 45 seconds left. They dueled with Lightning running back Mike Delich most of the game. The Eagles took a 14-0 lead on a scoring run by Mario Lewis and Sanders’ first touchdown pass of the game before Delich responded with a pair. The Eagles got another touchdown pass before Delich scored three straight. Sanders and Martens combined for three scoring passes in the fourth quarter with Markees Phillips scoring in between the first two for the Lightning.

Rogers 21, St. Francis 0: Hunter Derouin ran for two scores to lead the host Royals past the Saints. Tanner Palm sealed the victory with six minutes left on a 16-yard touchdown pass to Mitch Spilles.

Tartan 21, Simley 20: David Larson and Damien Goergen scored a pair of short touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to give the visiting Titans a come-from-behind victory over the Spartans. Josh Halloran ran for a score and threw for another to help the Spartans build a two-score lead in the second quarter. Eric Ferry scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter to give the Spartans a 20-7 lead.

Chaska 21, Holy Angels 14: Alex Strazzanti scored on a 6-yard run with 1:32 left to break a 14-14 tie and give the visiting Hawks a victory over the Stars. Strazzanti got the Hawks on the board first with a 43-yard touchdown pass to Nolan Hansen in the second quarter. Will Olson gave the Hawks their second lead of the game with a 9-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. The Stars scored on an interception return by Jack Anderson and 35-yard run by Joe Heimbold.

Lakeville North 35, Lakeville South 0: Wade Sullivan rushed for 126 yards and four touchdowns to lead the No. 2 Panthers past the host Cougars. Ryan Dalrymple capped the scoring for the Panthers in the fourth quarter. Logan Gudmundson rushed for 114 yards to lead the Cougars.

Eden Prairie 20, Minnetonka 0: Devan Green Jr. led the No. 4 Eagles past the visiting Skippers with two touchdowns. Kyle Connelly added a 28-yard touchdown catch from Cole Kramer.
