Rookie Yasiel Puig leaves Dodgers game because of sore left hip

July 13, 2013 at 3:45AM

LOS ANGELES — Rookie Yasiel Puig has left the Los Angeles Dodgers' game against Colorado after four innings.

He started in right field and was hitless in two at-bats on Friday night. Puig's left hip has bothered him since he ran into the wall making a catch at Colorado on July 3.

Before the game, manager Don Mattingly had said Puig was experiencing soreness, but he started anyway.

He was replaced by Scott Van Slyke in the top of the fifth.
