Red Wing's big three sound off

Red Wing's top three golfers — senior Stephanie Herzog and sophomores Leah Herzog and Sophia Yoemans — finished in the top 25 in the Class 3A state tournament last year.

• On the difference between Class 3A and Class 2A:

Yoemans: "Class 3A teams have a lot more depth. Detroit Lakes and Minnewaska Area are the big powerhouses in Class 2A."

L. Herzog: "I like them both, but I know a lot more people in Class 2A."

S. Herzog: "I don't have a huge preference. I think they're pretty similar."

• Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids (Class 3A state tournament site) vs. Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan (Class 2A state tournament site):

Yoemans: "They are very different. Bunker Hills is a driving course while the Ridges you have holes you have to lay up on. They both have scoreable holes."

S. Herzog: "The Ridges is better, but Bunker is easier. It's more traditional."

• On last year's third-place team finish:

L. Herzog: "We had high expectations, and had a rough first day. We could have done better. We were a little disappointed."
