Records fly as Cromwell outlasts Lanesboro for Nine-Man title

Cromwell quarterback Jordan Suhonen rushed for 374 yards and five touchdowns, both Prep Bowl Records, in the Cardinals' 49-42 victory

November 26, 2010 at 9:24PM

Cromwell, a team that at one point this season was sitting with a 2-4 record, rode the legs of quarterback Jordan Suhonen to the Nine-Man championship. Suhonen, running primarily out of the spread option, rushed 28 times for a Prep-Bowl record 374 yards and five touchdowns -- also a Prep Bowl record -- as Cromwell outscored Lanesboro 49-42. Cromwell finished with 527 total yards, all the ground.

Lanesboro nearly matched Cromwell total offense. The Burros rolled up 473 yards of offense, led by quarterback Lucas Johnson's 169 yards and three touchdowns rushing.

Correction: The 91 total points tied a Prep Bowl record for points in a game. My math skills aren't what they used to be.
