Since 1996, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community has added dozens of tribal projects throughout this seven-state region to its loan portfolio, while becoming a major player in tribal finance. Here are four recent deals.

What: Addition of 80 new hotel rooms and meeting space.

Red Lake Seven Clans Casino

Red Lake, Minn.

$31 million loan, awarded FY 2009

Red Lake Band of Chippewa

What: Construction of a new casino, law enforcement center and greenhouse.

North Star Mohican Casino

Bowler, Wis.

$48 million loan, awarded FY 2009.

Stockbridge-Munsee Community Band of Mohican Indians

What: Completion of new hotel and restaurants.

Turtle Creek Crossing

Mission, S.D.

$3 million loan and additional grants, awarded FY 2007-2010

Rosebud Sioux Tribe

What: Construction of a tribally owned grocery store.
