From Princess Leia to a paper bag, Minnesotans show off 60 years of Halloween costumes

October 31, 2017 at 2:05PM

Talk about a Halloween treat.

We asked readers to send in snapshots of their favorite costumes from years past and were treated to these photos — and the stories that go with them.

Most of the costumes were homemade, such as 1950s princesses and the very un-P.C. (by today's standards) "hobo" outfits. As the photos show, there was a certain glee for those who were able to pick out a costume from the store, even if the plastic masks were hot.
