We know that Joe Mauer is out of tonight's lineup due to concussion concerns. But what about Miggy?

Detroit star Miguel Cabrera aggravated an injury while swinging the bat in the ninth inning on Tuesday. So Detroit baseball fans are wound up all over sports talk radio today about him needing time off. We haven't seen the lineups yet, but should know soon.

Anibal Sanchez threw a one-hitter at the Twins on May 24, that hit coming off Mauer's bat in the ninth inning. With Mauer out, is Sanchez licking his chops as he looks over the Twins' batting order.

I'll be back later with lineups and nuggets.

UPDATES

Miggy is the man. In the lineup. Batting third. Playing third.

Joe Mauer, back at the team hotel as he deals with concussion symptoms, texted Twins manager Ron Gardenhire to let him know he was O.K. Mauer will be tested tomorrow and will be cleared to fly home to the Twin Cities if all goes well. He will not travel with the team to Cleveland.

Samuel Deduno threw in the bullpen on Wednesday and said everything went well. Twins coaches and trainers monitored the session and agreed. So Deduno will pitch on Friday in Cleveland.

Now all the Twins need is to come up with a starter for Saturday's game. They hope to have someone identified by Friday.

Josh Willingham is getting the day off.

Drove past the Motor City Casino on the way to Comerica Park. I had no idea that it was built two blocks down the street from Cass Tech High School. Is it just me, or is this bad city planning? Detroit is struggling financially, but the leaders can do better than that. The only reason I noticed this was that members of the football team were walking home from practice and were walking right next to the casino.

Austin Martin didn’t dwell on his baserunning and fielding slip-ups Tuesday, as he connected for a pinch-hit homer Wednesday.
