On Thanksgiving you want a carving knife that can slice through turkey as if it were tofu. Eversharp Knives (344 Taft St. NE., Minneapolis, 612-379-1300) can help with that.

Through Dec. 31, regular knives will be sharpened for $2 each if five or more are brought in. Serrated knives are $4 each.

Eversharp is an authorized Wusthof dealer that sells and services Wusthof, Henckels, Miyabi, Kikuichi, Helle, Benchmade and Messermeister knives. New and re-conditioned knives are sold. Black Friday specials include a new Wusthof Classic 5-inch Santoku knife for $50 (reg. $135) a new 8-piece presentation set of stainless knives to match silverware for $50 (reg. $90) and a new 8-inch cooks knife for $100 (reg. $200).

Eversharp also sharpens scissors for $6 each ($5 each for 5 or more), mandoline blades and lawn mower blades.

The store is open 9 a.m. to 5:30 through Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 4:40 Saturdays. Generally, you can wait for knives to be sharpened although a one hour wait is not uncommon this time of year if there is a backlog.

If you have only a few knives to sharpen, Lunds & Byerly's will sharpen up to three knives free. Drop them off and pick them up the next business day.
