Postgame: Morneau's satisfaction; Perkins' transformation; Revere's latest midnight ride

DETROIT -- A few bonus tidbits from the Twins' 11-7 victory over the Tigers on Thursday.

* I really like the new HD scoreboard at Comerica Park. The old one seemed pretty out-dated compared to the ones at Kauffman Stadium, Target Field and Yankee Stadium. The Tigers drew 33,955 and 37,480 for these two mid-week games, so you can tell this city's into this team and plenty frustrated, I'm sure, by its 18-20 start.

* Justin Morneau was pretty pleased with his two-run, third-inning homer but seemed just as happy with his RBI ground out in the fifth. That's because Josh Willingham had just scampered to third base on a throwing error by Tigers first baseman Prince Fielder. It was one of six errors Detroit made in the series, leading to five unearned runs.

"The big thing is we've been taking advantage of those errors and getting those guys in when we needed to," Morneau said. "I think you get a couple guys hot, it takes pressure off everybody else, and I think we'll start hitting. I don't think we've played nearly as well as we're capable of."

* Eleven pitches into the eighth inning, Glen Perkins had thrown 10 balls. Andy Dirks and Miguel Cabrera were on base, and Perkins had a 2-0 count against Prince Fielder, with the Twins clinging to a one-run lead.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried," Perkins said. "I was lost out there for 2 1/2 batters."

So what happened? He blinked his eyes and turned into The Perkinator. Or, in his words:

"And with Delmon [Young], I knew he'd be swinging, so I started him out with a sinker, and then I threw him a fastball -- four-seamer, up and in -- and luckily he hit it to Lexi [Casilla], and they turned a good double play."

* Ben Revere said he had all of his stuff packed in a Rochester, N.Y., hotel room when word came late Wednesday night that he was heading back to the big leagues.

"I was going to move into an apartment with a couple of my teammates today," he said. "I was going to take my stuff over to their place, but luckily I didn't."

Revere, who was batting .330 for the Red Wings, arrived at DTW on a flight that landed at 7:30 a.m., and headed straight to the ballpark for the 1:05 p.m., game.

"Just took a cold shower, got a Red Bull -- I'm ready to go, I'm energized," Revere said.
