BARCELONA, Spain — American Cesilie Carlton has won gold in 20-meter diving — the equivalent of jumping off a seven-story building — at the inaugural high diving competition at the swimming world championships
Carlton impressed the judges with her final dive, a triple half pike. American Ginger Huber finished second on Tuesday, jumping off a temporary platform into Barcelona's harbor.
Carlton won gold with a total of 211.60 points, Huber had 206.70 and Anna Bader of Germany took bronze.
The 32-year-old Carlton, who is from San Antonio, Texas, works in the Chinese city of Macau.
The men's 27-meter competition — jumping off the equivalent of nine stories — ends Wednesday.
