COLUMBUS, OHIO – Alex Limoges set a program record with his 23rd goal of the season, and Penn State advanced to the Big Ten men's hockey championship game with a 5-1 victory over top-seeded Ohio State on Sunday.
Limoges scored with a second left in the first period for a 2-0 Penn State lead and also had an assist to give him 50 points on the season, tying for the national lead. He also set a Big Ten tournament record with his sixth goal.
Nate Sucese added two third-period goals, while Peyton Jones made 31 saves for the 17th-ranked Nittany Lions (22-14-2), who will play at Notre Dame on Saturday, with the winner getting a berth in the 16-team NCAA tournament. Penn State won the Big Ten tournament championship in 2017, Notre Dame in 2018.
John Wiitala scored late for No. 6 Ohio State (20-10-5), which will receive an at-large bid Sunday.
