The head of the Chicago regional office for the Opus Group of Companies is joining a competitor.

Daniel Queenan, president and CEO of Opus North, has been named president of Trammell Crow Co.'s Chicago-based central operations and will start his new job March 8.

Queenan will oversee Trammell Crow offices in Chicago, Austin, Dallas and Houston, as well as the firm's health care real estate business.

A spokeswoman for Minnetonka-based Opus said Monday that a successor will be announced by the end of this week.

Opus North and Minnetonka-based Opus Northwest are two surviving regional development arms of Opus, which saw regional operating companies in Atlanta, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. file for bankruptcy last year.

The parent company is dissolving. In December it sold Opus North to Opus Holdings LLC, an entity controlled by trusts of the Rauenhorst family, which founded the parent company.

Before joining Opus North in 2005, Queenan was a vice president at Minneapolis-based Ryan Cos. Before that he spent five years with Opus Northwest.
