Northern Iowa (27-8) took down Louisville (24-7) in three sets —25-21, 25-15, 27-25 — in the early game Friday. Sophomore middle hitter Piper Thomas and sophomore outside hitter Karlie Taylor recorded 18 and 17 kills, respectively, to lead UNI and the game. Taylor also managed a double-double with 15 digs. The Panthers hit .267 and held Louisville to .159.
The Wild’s Brock Faber played in the 2022 Games in Beijing when he was still at the University of Minnesota and NHL players stayed at home. In 2026, he’s back.
