New Hope store closing to cost 70 jobs

About 70 workers at the HD Bath and Remodeling store on Winnetka Avenue in New Hope will be out of work as of April 1, according to a letter sent to Hennepin County officials. The 20 salaried and 50 hourly workers were part of a previously announced corporate layoff in which 7,000 employees lost their jobs after Atlanta-based Home Depot decided to shut down its smaller home improvement brands. No Home Depot stores in Minnesota or elsewhere will be affected, company spokeswoman Jennifer King said.
