It was a good weekend for nostalgia. Friday night, we saw "Midnight in Paris," a very good Woody Allen film in which the lead character (Owen Wilson) is a writer who somehow is transported back to 1920s-era Paris because that's what he deems the Golden Era. There are themes of learning to love the here and now while also not being confined to a fixed present. It was easy to relate. On Sunday, we went to see Guns N' Roses at Target Center. It has been almost a full 25 years since the release of Appetite for Destruction, which might be the first CD (OK, tape back then) that we really loved. We had an Appetite for Destruction t-shirt that we wore at least once a week to school, if not more, until it was literally threadbare. Then we wore it some more.
The current GNR lineup is incomplete, and Axl Rose is darn near 50. They didn't go on until a little after 11 p.m., and they didn't finish until 2 a.m. During those three hours, they served up a very satisfying heap of nostalgia. There's not much of a review here or more to say about what we liked. Instead, we'll leave you with a couple of morning questions:

2) If you could have lived in any era other than the present one, what would it be?
