Aiming to add more versatile defenders, the Twins claimed utilityman Vidal Brujan off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Brujan, 27, played in 60 games for three teams last year: the Braves, Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs.
The switch hitter batted .253 with no home runs, five doubles and eight RBI in 87 at-bats.
The Twins designated Mickey Gasper for assignment, giving them a week to trade him or place him on waivers.
Brujan has experience at shortstop, second base, third base and all three outfield positions.
He spent the first three seasons of his five-year MLB career with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Gasper, an infielder who can catch, played in 45 games for the Twins last season.
He hit .158 with two homers and 11 RBI.
