Tucker Hibbert of Pelican Rapids, Minn., won the pro race Saturday in the Pirtek Snocross National at Canterbury Park. It was his 112th pro national race win and second in two days in Shakopee.

U gymnasts win

The Gophers women's gymnastics team beat Iowa State 194.700 to 194.025 in its season opener at the Sports Pavilion. Senior Lindsay Mable of Minnesota won the all-around (38.900), the vault (9.900) and the balance beam (9.850).

U swimmers sweep

The Gophers men's and women's swimming teams both won their dual meets against host Hawaii.

The men won 146-82. Darryl Turner and Paul Fair both swam in the winning 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Turner also won the 100 freestyle.

The women's team won 157-79. Sophomore Brooke Zeiger celebrated her birthday with wins in the 400 individual medley and 200 backstroke. Danielle Nack won the 50 freestyle and 200 butterfly.

Eight titles for U

Members of the Gophers men's track and field team won eight of 15 possible title in the Northwest Open at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse. The Gophers especially dominated the middle-distance races with Goaner Deng taking first in the 400-meter run, Nate Rose in the 600 and Christian Skaret in the 800.
