Gophers senior defenseman Jake Parenteau announced on Monday night via Twitter that surgery on his broken right leg was successful.
Parenteau was injured while checking a Michigan State player early in Friday night's 2-2 tie on the road. He was helped off the ice and taken to a hospital for X-rays.
Gophers coach Don Lucia said he hopes Parenteau can return in eight weeks. The senior has appeared in 13 of the Gophers' 16 games and has one assist. He's played a big part in the Gophers' power play and penalty kill and has a plus-13 rating.
Senior forward Tom Serratore is also out with a lower-body injury that could keep him sidelined into 2014.

U wrestlers move to No. 1
The Gophers moved up two spots to No. 1 — ahead of Penn State and Iowa — in this week's InterMat college wrestling ratings based on tournament strength.
Three Gophers are rated No. 1 at their weights: juniors Nick Dardanes and Scott Schiller at 149 and 197 pounds, respectively, and two-time defending NCAA champion Tony Nelson, a senior, at heavyweight.
Six others are rated from No. 3 — junior Dylan Ness at 157 — to No. 19.
