The Saints re-signed righthander John Straka, whose contract was purchased by the Toronto Blue Jays late in the Saints' 2016 season.

Straka, of Chaska, was 10-3 with a 4.48 ERA in 17 games for the Saints, including 16 starts. Over his last four appearances he allowed just one run in 18 innings. He then went 4-1 with a 4.68 ERA in five games for New Hampshire, the Blue Jays' Class AA team.

Gophers men's hockey cracks top 10

The Gophers' weekend sweep of Michigan State resulted in a one-spot climb in the USCHO.com weekly men's hockey poll, from 11th to 10th.

The top three teams — Minnesota Duluth, Denver and Penn State — remained unchanged. Quinnipiac, which was swept by Princeton, tumbled seven spots to No. 14.

Auggies men's hockey to Scandinavia

The Augsburg men's hockey team leaves Thursday for a 10-day, four-game trip to Sweden and Norway, the Auggies' first international trip in several years.

The Auggies' first stop will be Stockholm, Sweden, where they will play two exhibition games. On Sunday, they will face the Sodertalje J20 team, which plays in the top junior league in Sweden. The following day, Augsburg will take on Nacka HK, a team in the Swedish Division 1 professional league.

The Auggies also will attend two hockey games in Sweden, including a game between Farjestad BK and Orebro in the top Swedish pro league.

Mustangs to honor six

Southwest Minnesota State chose six individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Honor.

They are: former women's basketball player Michelle Bruns (2001-05); football player Greg Delaine (1988-91); tennis player Martha Garzon (1989-92); swimmer Tom Moehn (1972-76); swimming and diving coach Con Eckstrom (1970-80); and community member SMSU athletics backer Tim Moberg.
