Minnesota scene: Minnesota United trades forward Barbara

Forward Etienne Barbara of the Minnesota United FC was traded Thursday to the Tampa Bay Rowdies for forward Mike Ambersley.

Barbara, injured at times, scored only twice as United tied for fifth in the seven-team league during the spring season. Ambersley also had two spring goals.

Minnesota begins the second leg of its season against spring-season champion Atlanta at 7 p.m. Saturday at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

Leigh Klasse, from Keller Golf Course, shot a 77 to lead four sectional qualifers for the U.S. Women's Senior Amateur. The other qualifers, all with 79s, were Alison Hurley, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Ellie Layton, Rochester, Minn., and Brenda Williams, Minnetrista.

• Rachel Bootsma of Eden Prairie finished seventh in the women's 50-meter backstroke finals at the world championships.
