Mike Hastings agreed to an eight-year contract Monday after coaching Minnesota State Mankato to the most victories in Division I men's hockey the past three seasons. Hastings' contract is worth $290,000 per season.

He won the Penrose Award as the top coach in college hockey last season.

Eleven Minnesotans make Pan-Am Games

Eleven athletes with Minnesota connections were named to the U.S. team for the Pan American Games July 10-26 in Toronto. The 623-member team includes Alise Post of St. Cloud (BMX), Kelly Catlin of Arden Hills (cycling), Kiana Eide of St. Francis (rhythmic gymnastics), Jake Bredenbeck of Marine on St. Croix (racquetball), Nate Augspurger and Garrett Bender of Minneapolis (rugby), Kate Johnson of Hopkins (rugby), Kiera Janzen of White Bear Lake (swimming), Garrett Heath of Winona (track), Andy Bisek of Chaska (Greco-Roman wrestling) and St. Cloud State alumna Heather Miller (track).
