Tristan Duran and Vitali Kan of the Gophers men's gymnastics team were selected Thursday to represent Team USA at the 2017 World University Games from Aug. 19-30 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Duran and Kan each earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships earlier this month, Duran on parallel bars and high bar, Kan on vault.
Tonka names coach
Former St. Olaf men's hockey coach Sean Goldsworthy was named the boys' hockey coach at Minnetonka High School, his alma mater.
Goldsworthy, the son of former Minnesota North Star standout Bill Goldsworthy, coached the Oles from 1997-2016.
Veteran coach retires
Rick Uttech, the coach of the Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther girls' basketball team which played in the Class 1A state tournament in March, announced his retirement Wednesday after 39 seasons.
Uttech began his coaching career at East Chain (before it merged with Granada-Huntley) in 1978. He had 552 career wins.

• Seven Lynx games will be on ESPN2, according to its updated WNBA television schedule. That means 19 of 34 Lynx games will be on TV; Fox Sports North earlier announced it will broadcast 12 games.
• The Gophers men's tennis team defeated Indiana 4-2 in West Lafayette, Ind., in its opening match of the Big Ten tournament. Matic Spec at No. 2 singles for the Gophers and Marino Alpeza at No. 4 each won in three sets.
