Dustin Crenshaw, who re-signed with the Saints before Monday's game after pitching in Mexico, threw a five-hitter and led St. Paul to a 2-1 home victory over the Wichita Wingnuts.

Crenshaw, 28, allowed one second-inning run and struck out four while walking none in the Saints' ninth complete game of the season. He got offensive support from Dan Johnson, who hit a two-run homer in the fourth after a walk to Brady Shoemaker.

The Saints (45-42) trail Winnipeg by seven games in the North Division and are 3½ games back in the wild-card race.

U defeats NDSU, wins soccer opener

The Gophers got first-half goals from Sydney Squires and Emily Heslin and a second-half score by Megan Koenig and beat North Dakota State 3-0 in their home opener. Minnesota outshot the Bison 17-2, with nine shots on goal.
