State and local investigators are looking at the actions of a pickup driver who survived a crash at a rural intersection near Cloquet, Minn., that killed a couple in a car, officials said.

The crash occurred about 9 a.m. on Dec. 26, about 4 miles east of Cloquet at the intersection of E. Stark and Canosia roads, the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office said.

Killed in the crash were the car’s driver, 57-year-old Anthony Drake, and passenger Tammy Drake, 57, both of Oronoco, Minn., the Sheriff’s Office said.

Injured were the pickup’s driver, a 32-year-old man and 1-year-old passenger Owen Ross, according to the Sheriff’s Office. They were taken to a Cloquet hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries and have since been released, said Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Danielson.

Officials also have yet to disclose any of the circumstances leading up to the crash, which left both vehicles in the ditch.

Danielson said he is withholding the identity of the pickup driver until the State Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office have completed their investigation into the collision.

He said the investigation could take several months before it is complete.

SPARK Children’s Museum of Rochester disclosed that Tammy Drake was its visitor experience manager.

On its Facebook page, the museum said Tammy Drake “was an incredible joy and a beacon of light at the children’s museum. She loved leading story time, often in character with a costume to match. ... SPARKTACULAR was a signature event for Tammy, and she would dress in a new costume each day leading up to the event. Her teammates and our visitors were always guessing, ‘What will Tammy be today?’ ”

In the couple’s joint obituary, Anthony Drake was described as “a firm believer in the power of resilience, often sharing the motto, ‘We got this.’ Telling us we can do hard things, and there are so many people who love you. His words of wisdom will echo in the hearts of those he left behind.”
