Police in Minneapolis are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person involved in a fatal stabbing late last year just south of downtown.

Shane A. Johnson, 42, of Minneapolis, suffered numerous “sharp force injuries” at the Abbott Apartments in the 100 block of E. 18th Street and died there shortly before 3 p.m. on Dec. 18, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Police have posted on social media two public transportation surveillance photos of a man they believe was involved in the killing.

Sgt. Garrett Parten said Friday that MPD’s “investigators have asked that I reach out to [news] affiliates in New Orleans and surrounding parishes with the request for help to identify the person.”

Anyone with information about the death is being urged by police to contact them by email at policetips@minneapolismn.gov or by calling 612-673-5845. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling CrimeStoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477) or at www.CrimeStoppersMN.org.
