Minneapolis-based marketing agency Broadhead has spun off its business training and consulting arm Clutch Performance (formerly Clutch+ Business Advisors) a little more than a year after the agency publicly introduced Clutch and two other sister companies which offer specialized services.

Clutch has been sold to agency partner and Clutch President Troy Schroeder for an undisclosed sum.

"As successful as Clutch has been inside our walls, we believe it will expand even more quickly outside them," said Broadhead Chief Executive Dean Broadhead, in a release. "Not to mention, it fulfills a longtime goal of my friend and colleague."

In late 2015, Broadhead, which provides marketing services primarily to clients in the agriculture industry, formed the B+Co Group made up of Clutch, Rabbit, which analyzes industry and consumer insights, and Granite Growth, which helps clients with new business ventures.

Clutch has actually been in existence since 2014. It focuses on revenue generation, strategic consulting, and training for companies in the agriculture and food spaces, but Schroeder said its services will continue to evolve.

"Clutch has evolved from a consulting firm, to a consulting and training firm, to the go-to-market solutions provider it is today — and that's in just two years," Schroeder said, in a statement. "There's a tremendous need and potential in the market to help clients find and generate revenue growth opportunities. Clutch has met and will continue to evolve to meet the needs of those clients."

At Clutch, Schroeder will be joined by Steve Koep, partner and agribusiness practice lead, Malorie Drugg, director of client services, and Dave Miller, food business practice lead.
