Mega warehouse sale from Gabberts, Hom, Seasonal Concepts Hom Furniture brings together shoppers of all stripes and budgets to its warehouse sale, including overstocks, samples, returns, canceled special orders, discontinued styles, and scratch and dents from Hom Furniture, Gabberts, World Rugs and Seasonal Concepts. (Hom purchased Gabberts in 2008 and Seasonal Concepts in 2009.) Merchandise will include Christmas trees and seasonal decor and patio furniture from Seasonal Concepts, a truckload of Arts & Crafts furniture from Stickley, hundreds of hand-knotted and machine-made rugs, designer furniture from Gabberts and a large selection of youth bedroom furniture, dining room sets (about 70) and leather and upholstered pieces from Hom and Gabberts, all discounted 30 to 70 percent.

Designer denim for $90 Mode designer outlet (7781 Main St., Maple Grove, 763-391-6102, www.shopmodestore.com) opened this week. The Fargo-based boutique carries high-end pieces from Kasil and Serfontaine denim, Barefoot Dreams loungewear, Poetic License shoes and Tea Collection for kids. Designer jeans, at $90, are regularly $200 to $300. All items are brand new, priced mostly from $15 to $53, regularly $30 to $350. The assortment of women's, men's and kids' stuff includes a typical size range but plus sizes are rare. The temporary location is expected to move across the street in a month.

Contemporary rug sale Remember those going-out-of-business Oriental rug sales that a few merchants in Richfield always seemed to be having? The Odegard rug sale couldn't be more different. The retailer is not going out of business, the sale prices represent true values, and the designs are unique and contemporary. Discounts range from 55 to 80 percent. Prices range from $500 to $3,300 for 6- by 9-foot (regularly $3,000 to $7,000), $750 to $4,800 for 8- by 10-foot (regularly $4,300 to $10,200) and $1,000 to $6,400 for 9- by 12-foot rugs (regularly $6,000 to $14,000). More than 1,000 rugs -- samples, overstocks and discontinued styles -- will be on sale. Nothing more than $3 at book sale Half-Price Books hauls four semitrucks full of hardback and paperback books, kids' books, DVDs, videos, CDs, LPs, books on tape and software to its mega-clearance sale at the State Fairgrounds (grandstand, 1755 Dan Patch Av.) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. All seven Twin Cities locations contribute to the sale. Everything is $3 or less.
