Maya Moore finishes second in WNBA MVP race

Lynx star Maya Moore, last season's WNBA MVP, finished second to Chicago's Elena Delle Donne this season.

Delle Donne was announced as the 2015 WNBA MVP Wednesday, After posting the fifth-highest scoring average in league history (23.4 points per game), Delle Donne received 38 of 39 first-place votes from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Delle Donne led the Sky to a 21-13 record, good for second in the Eastern Conference. She scored at least 40 points twice this season, 30 points five times and 20 points 21 times. She also shot 95 percent from the free throw line and finished third in the league in rebounding.

Delle Donne finished with 385 points overall in the voting. Moore received one first-place vote and 246 points overall. New York forward Tina Charles (181) was third.
