Lynx try to avoid losing streak
Preview: The Western Conference-leading Lynx (21-4), who are 2-2 in the past four games after losing only twice in the season’s first 21 games, will try to avoid their first two-game losing streak of the season. The Lynx are coming off a 70-64 loss to Los Angeles on Friday at the Xcel Energy Center. Seattle (11-16) is coming off a 98-89 victory over Phoenix on Saturday. The Storm was playing its first game under interim head coach Gary Kloppenburg, who replaced Jenny Boucek, who was fired on Thursday.
Players to watch: Lynx C Sylvia Fowles, the Western Conference player of the week who is second in the league in scoring (20.5), had 17 points and 13 rebounds — her 14th double-double of the season — against Los Angeles on Friday. Lynx F Rebekkah Brunson is averaging 11.0 points (her best since the 2012 season) and 7.1 rebounds per game. Storm F Breanna Stewart is third in the league in scoring (20.4 points) and sixth in rebounding (8.5). Storm G Jewell Loyd is ninth in the league in scoring (17.3). Storm G Sue Bird is third in the league in assists (6.5).
Numbers: The loss to Los Angeles was the first in 43 games when the Lynx have held a foe under 40 percent field-goal shooting. The Lynx have beaten Seattle six consecutive times.
