On the first day that WNBA teams could sign free agents, the Lynx re-signed 6-4 center Jessica Adair.

Last season Adair, bothered by injuries, played in only 19 games, averaging 2.4 points and 2.1 rebounds. In 2011, she averaged 4.3 points and 2.9 rebounds and improved those numbers slightly in the playoffs.

"We're hopeful that she enters this season healthy and ready to return to 2011 form," said Roger Griffith, executive vice president of the Lynx.

Etc. • The No. 10 Gophers women's gymnastics team beat Michigan State 194.325 to 192.625 in East Lansing, Mich. Lindsay Mable of the Gophers won the all-around (38.850). Three teammates won individual events: Janell Campbell (uneven parallel bars), Shannon Golich (balance beam) and Kyle Schermann (floor exercise).

• Gophers senior Rok Bonin was named the Big Ten men's tennis athlete of the week.
