Lynx, Fowles are trending up as they head on the road

Preview: The Lynx are coming off a 90-89 victory over Las Vegas on Friday at Target Center. The victory was the seventh in the past 10 games for the Lynx (7-7), who reached .500 for the first time this season. The Lynx, who bring a 2-4 road record into the first of back-to-back games in Phoenix, lost to the Mercury 77-75 in the season opener at Target Center on May 14. The Mercury (7-7), who have played just once since June 19, are coming off an 88-79 home victory over Los Angeles on Sunday.

Players to watch: Lynx C Sylvia Fowles was named Western Conference Player of the Week after averaging 28 points, 16.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in two games last week. She is averaging 17.4 points per game and is second in the WNBA in rebounding (9.9) and leads the league in steals (2.4). G Diana Taurasi returned to the Mercury's lineup on Sunday after being sidelined five weeks with a fractured sternum. Taurasi, 39, scored 25 points to become the first player in WNBA history to surpass 9,000 career points.

Numbers: Fowles, Napheesa Collier and Layshia Clarendon each scored 20 points on Friday. It was the seventh time that three Lynx players have scored at least 20 in the same game.

Injuries: F Natalie Achonwa (knee) and F Aerial Powers (thumb) are out indefinitely for the Lynx. Mercury G Bria Hartley (knee) is out indefinitely.
